The macula<\/b> or macula lutea<\/b> is the part of the eyes in responsible for the central, high-resolution, color vision which is possible in bright light only; and this type of vision is hindered if the macula gets damaged, as in macular degeneration, this can be caused by the blue light and UV light absorption by the cells.<\/span><\/p>

The scientific term macula lutea is derived from these two Latin words, macula, which means “spot,” and lutea, which means “yellow.” The yellow color of the spot (macula lutea) is because of xanthophyll caratinoids pigments known as zeaxanthin and lutein<\/b>, which are abundant in the human retina.<\/span>
